Hey all
I've (now!) got a problem with the Enterprise Edition Reporting Services
Installer, in that it doesn't get passed the "Installing required components
for the Setup" screen!
I was doing the installation across a Terminal Service / VPN connection to
our live servers, and although it was taking a while, it was installing
perfectly well! However, due to a network glitch (the person in question WILL
be beaten to death!), the installer suddenly couldn't get access to the files
and i had to abort the installation.
However, now when i try to repeat the install, it only gets to the screen
mentioned above, the progress bar gets to the end, then the "installing"
label changes to "Error!" (no further info given!) and the wizard doesn't
allow any further progress.
As the screen says that these required components will NOT be uninstalled
even when Reporting Services is, i wud've thought that they are still there
and active ... so technically, the installer doesn't need to do this process
(!?) ... but obviously the installer has issues with them still being there!
Anyway, if anyone has a solution as to how to get passed this then please
let me know ... our live system has to be online by the end of the week and
we DO need Reporting Services available!
Cheers
MarkI have this same problem Mark.
Tell me, in the event viewer do you see this:
Faulting application SETUP.EXE, version 2000.80.743.0, faulting module
sqlspars.dll, version 2000.80.743.0, fault address 0x00059cf8.

posted on this site back in August with the same problem. Here is what he
told me to do:
"I was able to resolve if I remember correctly by installing from another
location. This is what I did and it appeared to have something to do with
the CDROM drive. I donâ't know why.
1. I shared my cdrom drive.
2. From the box in question, log onto the share.. start/run
\\â'pcnameâ'\cdrom
3. I ran the setup like that and it worked fine "
This solution worked for me. Hopefully this helps.

installation went perfectly well!? Am sure that hurt our available bandwidth
with our hosting company, but hey!? :D
So in my case, i ran the instal from a Network Share on the LAN our live
servers are on! Am guessing location IS key ... and probably connectivity as
well!? :D
Sorted the problem b4 getting back to your replies, but thx for the help
anyway guys!!
Cheers
