Hi,
I'm trying to look at the samples supplied with reporting services.
Found a folder with a bunch of samples
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting
Services\Samples\Reports
which has a SampleReports.sln
this opens fine in visual studio .net (help about says Microsoft
Development environment 2003, Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1)
but when I right-click on any of the sample reports, e.g., Product
Catalog.rdl
it pops an error message saying "exception from HRESULT 0x80131500"
any insights?"msdninfo" <msdninfo@.newsgroup.nospam> wrote in message

Well you can relax now, it came right of it's own accord. Now it just works.
OTOH it may come back later to bite since its cause is still unknown. :-)|||Hi,
Thanks for the information and it's great to know it works smoothly now.
A strange behavior seems to be memroy or pointer related. You are welcome
to post back with the detail description when it comes back again. Such as
Any related error in Event Log? How to reproduce it?
Have a nice week!

reporting services on flat files...
Hey guys
Scenario
I'm basically pulling a load of old data periodically from a bunch of client
MSDE machines onto a server, and pushing the data into flat files using a
..Net application that I knocked up. The flat files are delimited, and there
are multiple files based on their date... so the data's not just in one
file.
Ideal
I'd like to be able to report on the current data on the clients, as well as
the archive data (not necessarily on the same report!) which is stored in
the files.
So far
Researching this a bit, SSIS can import this delimited file no problem, and
then presumably I can get this to Reporting Services via the DataReader.
I've never used DTS or SSIS before so how this happens is still a bit of a
grey area.
Firstly, is using this approach possible, and is it the best one to take?
Other ideas about getting data from the delimited flat files into reports on
reporting services 2005 much appreaciated!!!
Thanks.
Dan.
Ok the easiest way to do this may be to load all the file to a SQL
Server table and report from that. You could tag the rows as they get
loaded with the date on the file and the filename as well as a little
bit of auditing.

This I feel is the best option for flat files. infact you can access directly
as well but that needs lot of testing.
SSIS is pretty simple and you can use it at ease...moreover it is GUI based
so just drag and drop things to get a simple upload. Or just go to the table
and right click for export and follow the wizard at the end save it as script
so that the same thing can be scheduled to use it again and again..

Reporting Services Installation Problem
Hi,
Here's the situation:
* I had an older beta (beta 1) of RS installed on a machine at an earlier time.
* Someone manually deleted the RS files on the machine as opposed to a add/remove programs operation.
* I installed the RTM Reporing Services on the machine.
* I try to author a report and get the following message:
'The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.Interop' does not match the assembly reference.'
I have removed VS 2003 and Reporting Services, and re-installed them numerous times, but still keep getting the same error message when I try to author a report.
Can anyone help?Which OS you are using...(Please dont tell me its XP:)..u r in trouble then)

Reporting Services Files and Backup
I'm looking to implement disaster recovery on my Reporting Services

also set up a backup job for the ReportServer databases.
Does anyone have a list of the config files and/or IIS files that should
also be backed up?

Depending on how many SQL Server services you have installed, the
majority of these files will exist in subfolders of: C:\Program Files
\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2 -or- C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.3. Once you find the correct subfolder, look for:
Web.config, RSWebApplication.config, rsmgrpolicy.config, etc in the:
ReportManager and ReportServer subfolders. Hope this helps.
