When I installed the production version of SQL Reporting Services on Windows
2000 Server the following error was raised:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with the package. The error code is 25619."
Has anyone else had this? If so, how did you resolve it?
Thanks in advance,
SimonI'm getting the same error - MS tech support has been of little help to
resolve this issue. Basically, I cannot finish my installation of
Reporting Services.
What did you do to resolve this?
Thanks,
Henry

Reporting Services IIS Installation error
I am trying to Install Reporting Services on a Production IIS 5.0 server and
I am getting the following error message:
Internet Information Services 5.0 (IIS) or later is either not installed, or
it is configured in a way that is incompatible with a Reporting Services
installation.
To install the Report Server and Report Manager components you must first
install Internet Information Services 5.0 (IIS) or later, and then verify
that the Web server configuration requirements are compatible with Setup.
Check the Setup documentation for more information about Web server
configuration requirements.
Report Designer component requirement.
I tested this installation twice in our test lab and it works fine, I can
see both Server and Client components but having problems in Prod. Any help
would be truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Have you resolved this error? I seem to be having the same issue on WS2003...

configuration, and it all seems to be OK.

Reporting Services DB Best Practice.
Ok, so, I see in an early post, that I need to ask a bigger question.
I have a production SQL 2005 Standard Server. I have another SQL 2005
Standard server that is used for reporting services only. What is the best
method for updating that reporting services DB on a 15 - 30 minute cycle.
The database should be read-only, but I do need to set different permissions
on it.
What's the best practice?
Mirror
Replication
Log ShippingHi,
Best option is "REPLICATION". depending on your need it should be
"Transaction Replication" for online reports. Instead of 15 min, go for
online transaction replication only.
In fact we use the same setup and transaction replication works absolutely
fine.

backup? You are not talking about the data that is being used in the report
but the report server databases?
I think you are making this harder than necessary if the purpose is a hot
backup. If one server goes down and the other comes on-line, the only thing
you will lose are whatever new subscriptions that have been setup since the
last time you synced the servers. Seems to me that doing that nightly would
be good enough. First, the chances are low you even need to even use this
(assuming you have normal fault tolerant hardware). Two, it is not a
transaction system where valuable data is lots. In the unlikely event the
server crashed then the users would have to recreate any new subscriptions.
If you are using report builder then the chance for some lost work is
higher. But still, weighing the complexity and the effort versus the gain.
I agree with the other post that if you have to do this that you are talking
replication, there are a variety of ways to do this (log shipping etc). SQL
Server 2005 has more options in this area than 2000.

Reporting Services Configuration Initialization - Green or Gray
OS: WIN2K3, SQL: 2005 Standard. SP2 - All installs
On my production server, using the Reporting Services Configuration Manager
I'm able to get Reporting service to work OK. I check this by opening a
browser and going to http://<servername>/reports.
My problem is that although Initialization is marked with a check it is
colored Gray. From what I understand, the gray means the report server is
not initialized properly. I have two test machines where Initialization is
colored Green as well as marked with a check. Although I've compared setups
of production and test side by side I am not able to get a Green
Initialization indicator on my production server. I've been looking online
for a solution for quite a while now but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated. On Sep 27, 5:55 pm, "Rodo" <ralvar...@.crihire.com> wrote:

of Reporting Services that does not support a web farm. The initialization
section is only available when multiple reporting services servers are
pointing to the same backend ReportServer database. That way you can manage
the servers that have been initialized against the database.
