Reporting Services setup error 29528

Here’s my situation. At what must have been the last dialog of setup I clicked

Finish, then got this message:

The summary log indicates that only the setup of Reporting Services failed. Here’s the section of the log:

Reporting Services setup error

I have been setup reporting services success, but after I modify the password
of Sql server's default user--"sa",the reporting service can not run, I
uninstall the reporting services and try to install it again, but cannot
install success. And I modify the password back, also cannot install success.
An error window pop up that is: cannot open the user database, install error.
Please help me!Were you using "sa" for the report server to connect to the database? If
so, you need to reset the password with rsconfig, which places encrypted
stuff in the report server config files.

Reporting Services Security Problem

What you will most likely want to do is disable Anonymous Access in
IIS (via: right-click My Computer >> select Manage >> Services and
Applications >> Internet Information Services >> Default Website >>
right-click Reports/ReportServer >> Properties >> Directory Security
tab >> Edit... button) and enable Windows Integrated Authentication
only. Hope this helps.

Reporting Services Scheduled Subscription Logon Error

Hi all,
For 8 months, I have had a set of Timed Subscriptions in use to generate
and email reports. In the last few days, they've failed.
The SQL Agent says success, but when you view the subscriptions in report
manager, they say Logon Failed.
There is nothing in Event viewewr, and I can say that the logon details
have not changed in the slightest! They are still valid. Exactly what
credentials is it picking from?
I'd appreciate suggestions.
Thx
PaulPaul,
Next thing you can do is to see whether the same report is running on the
preview of VS.

Reporting services Report width error.

Hi,
When I try to execute a report with large number of selections it
gives a error saying the report width has exceeded 4064 mm . Is this
the limitation of Reporting Services that it's body width cannot
exceed more than this width. Please reply to it soon.
Thanks in advance.

I have never had reports of this width, but I would imagine that this
is a limitation in Reporting Services. Is splitting up the report into
multiple sections not an option?

Reporting Services Project Problem

Hi
Every Time I Try To Start Any Type Of Report Server Project Out Of Visual
Studio 2005 I Get The Following Error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer,
Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=87987fvf5665vv91' or one
of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I'm Running SQL Dev Server 2005
Any idea what I screwed up'
ThanksHello Tom,
If the project was built with an older version (Beta) of the .NET Runtime
then you need to have the version installed in order for your app to run.
The alternative is to rebuild the component using the newer .NET Runtime
and this would be the recommended thing to do. After that you should no
longer be getting this error.
If the issue persists, you may want to consider reinstall .Net 2.0 and
repair VS 2005 to test the situation.

Reporting Services Print Error

We installed Reporting Services and SP2 on our customer portal for
reporting of their test results. This determines how our customers are
paid and is of extreme importance to them. We developed Reporting Services
reports and deployed them just this past week.
The reports look great and have been well received. However, there are
two glaring problems. First, whenever they attempt to print the report using
the print icon, the first page of the report prints and the following error
pops up
in a message box "An error occurred during printing. (0x80004005)". Second,
when we attempt to export the reports to PDF format and print them, every
other
page is a blank page.
Having read numerous posts about these problems, its clear that these are
issues that effect many installations of Reporting Services. Please, this
is clearly
not an isolated incident -- and the first post was in May over 6 months ago.
We would very much appreciate a resolution to this issue! It has a tremendous
impact on customer satisfaction with our production reports.
Thank you in advance for your prompt attention in this manner!

Grande ApplicationsAs far as using the print icon, when a user first access a page an install
of a dll is attempt. Depending on the users permissions and serurity
setting, the install will succeed or fail. If it fails the first time there
is ni attempt made to install it any susequent time. The dll needs to be
installed manually.
I do not know about the export to PDF.
Good Luck.

Thanks for your post.
From your descriptions, I understood you and your customer's conern as below
1. When your customer is print the Report from Report toolbar, it won't
work and report the error message "An error occurred during printing.
(0x80004005)".
2. If you are rendering reports to PDF format and then print, it will print
a blank page between every pages.
If I have misunderstood your concern, please feel free to point it out.
Based on my knowledge, please perform the steps below and let me know the
results
1. When it report the error message "An error occurred during printing.
(0x80004005)", would you please check the Reporting Services logs for more
detailed information? Reporting Services logs are located at
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\LogFiles
2. Is it possible for you to reproduce the customer's behavior on your
side?
3. What's the print and its driver your customers are using? Might it be
the issue for customer's hardware? Does the customer could print other
documents smoothly?
4. For your rendered PDF format, does it looks fine if you open it with
Acrobat Reader? Will you also see the blank pages between every page in PDF?
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or
concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are always here to be of
assistance!

Based on my research, this issue may occured by having other web site in
the IIS bound to the IP address of the machine.
Please reconfigure the IIS so the IP address is not bound to any particular
web site and make sure the Reporting Services web sites are configured
under the default web site and the IP setting for the Report Services
virtual directories are set to "All Unassigned".

Reporting Services log file roulette - how to tell which log file SSRS is writing to for errors?

I'm sure I'm not the only one frustrated trying to figure out which log file SSRS writes to when an error occurs. Does anybody know a sure way to tell? It doesn't change the date/time of the date modified, so you can't sort by date in windows explorer. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to which file it writes to. For example, I had to go through 6 log files to find which one was being written to. I had thought (hoped) that it would always write to the log files with the latest embedded date/time stamp as part of the file name. It does not.

I'm tempted to start using a file system spy, or resort to other tactics. Does anyone have a sure fired way to see which log file is written to when an error occurs? I'm not talking about SQL Dump files - just "normal" errors when processing reports.

Thanks,

WillyDog

Hi willydog,

If you take a look in the Logfiles folder, you will notice different names for the log files. The first part of the log file name tells you who logged in that file, so you can figure out in what file to look for a specific error. The second part of the log file name contains the time stamp, so if you sort the log files descending by Date Modified, you will have the most recent files in the top of your list.

So, for the first part of the logfile name, this is the meaning:

- file's name starts with ReportServer - the web service logs into that file

- file's name starts with ReportServerService - the Windows service worker appdomain logs into that file

- file's name starts with ReportServerService__main - the Windows service main appdomain logs into that file (only for start/stop the Windows service)

- file's name starts with ReportServerWebApp - ReportManager logs into that file

Reporting Services Instance not found

Hi,
I am getting the following error - "Report Services instance could not be found". However, from services, I am able to start and stop SQL Server Reporting Services. I get the error when I try to connect to Reporting Services from Management Studio. I am using Sept CTP.

How do I verify that I have this installed correctly? From the folder structure, I'm seeing MSSQL.1, MSSQL.2, and MSSQL.3, so I am pretty sure I installed all components that's on the CD.

Any help is appreciated!

it was stupid of me... got it to work! thanks!

Me too - I have this problem and don't see the simple fix.

It seems you need to "configure" reporting services first. From the operating system Start menu, go to the SQL Server 2005 group and select "Configuration Tools", "Reporting Services Configuration". Unfortunately for me as I configure each step the configure tool crashes. I then restart the tool and it looks OK; but now, when I attempt to connect, I get a much more verbose error message.

Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
