Reporting Services Failed Install

Hi all,

I have an SBS server that I tried to installed SQL Server 2005 Express edition for some testing/dev work (non-production server here) and although SQL installed, the reporting services component failed with the following.

--
Machine : RAND
Product : Reporting Services
Error : The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Setting reporting service and share point exclusion path. The error is: Fatal error during installation.

--
Machine : RAND
Product : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services
Product Version : 9.1.2047.00
Install : Failed
Log File : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Files\SQLSetup0001_RAND_RS.log
Last Action : InstallFinalize
Error String : The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Setting reporting service and share point exclusion path. The error is: Fatal error during installation.
Error Number : 29528
--

Could use some help figuring that out...heh. I am able to shoot the entire log (the SQLSetup0001.RAND.RS.log) but it's like 10MB, and I didn't see a file upload option here. Any help is much appreciated though!

As you have SBS installed you should define the exclude path for your Report Server. See the Screencasts on my website for more information about defining an exclude path on the Sharepoint system. The Screencast cab be found under the tab nav bar entry "Screencast"

Reporting Services Designer Install/Product Key

We installed reporting services on our MS SBS Premium server. The
installation was fine, except that the machine doesn't have Visual Studio
tools. No worries-- since we plan to develop reports on client machines with
VS.
That's where the problem is: we can't install the RS designer on the client
machines with VS 2003. When we get to the product key page, we enter in the
same key that worked for the SBS-P machine, but no love. Message: "This is
an invalid Product Key value. Please check the number located on your Product
Key sticker." The number we enter is the same as both the sticker on the
server case and the reg key on the server.
What do I need to do to install the designer for VS?Anyone have a possible solution to the product key problem with Small
Business Server 2003 Premium?

Reporting Services CRM Feature Pack

I am trying to install the Reporting Services CRM Feature Pack on a SBS 2003.
I have installed Reporting Services and SP1 for it. Everything installed
just fine when I installed Reporting Services. I went to install the Feature
Pack for CRM (also installed on the same server) and at the very end of the
installation, I get the following error:
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
That is it and then it backs itself out of the installation. Any ideas? I
have not been successful researching the error as it is highly generic.
ThanksI posted a reply on www.MSCRMExperts.com.
Do you have SQL Reporting Services Service Pack 1 installed?

I do not think it will even let you begin to install if it detects that SP1
for RS is not there. I am seeing this same issue pop up quite a bit with
others having the same problem. No resolution on any of them though.

with .NET Framework v1.1.

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I've verified that the ReportServer is running, however, I can't get the CRM
Report pack to install.|||Here is what we have found out. The environment we have is in Development
but mimics the production environment. So putting VS.NET on it (being SBS
2003 and mimicing the production environment) is not an option for this
circumstance (and is an optional install in the first place). Even though we
have unsuccessfully been able to install the CRM Report Pack, if you can
install it to another server NOT running the CRM, this seems to work. Then,
just publish your rdl from Reporting Services to the actual CRM Server
running Reporting Services. This assumes that you are running CRM and
Reporting Services on the same box.
