Reporting Services Toolbar & version

Hi All,

1. Whether I'm working on in Layout, Data or Preview (Reporting Services 2005) for any report

the toolbars I select disappear when I click on close. In Tools, Customize, I have check marks by: Formatting, Query designer, Layou,Build and Standard among a few others. I tried the reset button but no help as well.

What am I missing? Should they be visible and not grayed out?

2. Also, Is there an easy way to tell what verion/service pack level SQl server 2005 and of MSSRS 2005 I am running?

Thanks in Advance !

Reporting Services Service Pack 2

Ok,
How do I get what Service Pack if any is installed for Reporting Services?
Version?
SQL query?
I see there is a Service Pack 2 for Reporting Services. Should everything be
fine with my reports after I
install this or is this going to be a mess? Break everything?
thanks
gvThere is no service pack 2 for RS 2005. RS 2000 does have it and is good, I
ran in production with that for quite awhile. For RS 2005 if you install SP1
then you also need to get a hotfix because SP1 broke using All for
multi-select parameters. SP2 is out as a pre-release. I have not installed
it however.

Reporting Services process Analysis Services cube with 100% load

Hi all,

I use SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition version 9.00.2153 on Windows XP SP2.

I build two cubes, process them and browse throw "Browse" tab in Analysis Services - time for loading was 5-10 seconds.

When I build Reporting Services project with same cubes as data sources

(on same computer), CPU was increased to 100% for more than 30 minutes

(process msmdsrv.exe) ... and I interpurt it.

Transfer projects to Windows 2003 SP1, but same result.
Do you have any idea what happens and how can I fix it ?

Best regards,

Siol En

OK, what happens.

I decreased attributes number (join some of them and my cubes become a little bit ugly), processing (for OLAP) a little bit increased (from 5-10 to 8-15 seconds).

Reporting Services proceed new cube for less than 2 minutes (bigger one) - waiting for congratulations

Now a big fight will be with a fact that Reporting Services didn't support "(All)" hierarchy member

Any help will be welcome, because my aggregation functions used exactly that property ... - "Percentage of Parent"; "Average", "Standart deviation"

Best regards,

Reporting Services June CTP

Does anyone know if the June CTP will run on the release version of .NET 2.0 currently I have this running on version 2.0.50215 but i need to remove that to install the release version of .NET 2.0 but I dont want to uninstall the June CTP of SQL 2005 yet.

Thanks in advance
MartinI'm not positive, but I don't think you're going to be able to do this - The June CTP is based on Whidbey Beta 2, and I'm betting a fair number of changes happened between B2 and RTM...

Reporting Services Install Issues....

Hello,
I'm new to MS Reporting Services so please forgive the newbie question.
I downloaded the trial version from the microsoft website. When I ran the
installer on my database server (SQL Server 2000, SP3) it gave me 2 warnings
saying 1) Visual Studio.NET was not installed, and, 2) IIS was not
configured correctly (i'm running Windows 2003 server w/ IIS6).
First of all, why would I want to install those two components on a database
server?
Anyways - it allowed me to proceed so I did and then I noticed that it only
gave me the option to install CLIENT tools. SO, my question is: Is there a
"server" component that needs to be installed on the database server? If so,
where do I download it from because I cannot find it anywhere....
very confused.
thanks in advance,
-ZD
yes there is a SQL Server component and also 2 IIS components
You will need to installthe client bits on a box that has VStudio 2003 to develop reports

In any event, you have to have at least SQL server Developer, STD or Enterprise to install - Personal edition will not work
also, You must patch up to SQL server SP3a before you install

If so,
where do I download it from because I cannot find it anywhere....
very confused.
thanks in advance,
-ZDyes there is a SQL Server component and also 2 IIS components
You will need to installthe client bits on a box that has VStudio 2003 to develop reports

components? They do not seem to be part of the file I downloaded from
microsoft: RSEVAL.exe (137,915 KB)

I downloaded the Developer Edition From MSDN Universal so I could try it out.
In any event, you have to have at least SQL server Developer, STD or Enterprise to install - Personal edition will not work
also, You must patch up to SQL server SP3a before you install
You will need IIS 5X or better and VStudio 2003 for development
If you have a lic. copy of Standard or Enterprise edition of SQL Server you can request a free copy of the SQL Srv Reporting Services CD from MS for the price of shipping and handling.
you may want to read through the FAQs at
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/reporting/howtobuy/faq.asp|||Hi Guys,
OK so everytime I run the installer it says IIS is not configured correctly
so this is why (i'm assuming) its not letting me install the server
components.
BUT what's wrong? I'm running IIS6 on Windows Server 2003. IIS works just
fine, i have over 10 sites hosted on the box....
Is there any documentation anywhere that explains EXACTLY what's needed in
terms of IIS config?
thanks and sorry for the hassles, this is killing me here...

Reporting Services install Error 25619

When I installed the production version of SQL Reporting Services on Windows
2000 Server the following error was raised:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with the package. The error code is 25619."
Has anyone else had this? If so, how did you resolve it?
Thanks in advance,
SimonI'm getting the same error - MS tech support has been of little help to
resolve this issue. Basically, I cannot finish my installation of
Reporting Services.
What did you do to resolve this?

Reporting Services in SQL 2000

I would like to learn/more, practice creating and using reports but I don't know if I can do that on my home laptop with version 2000. I know, I know... upgrade to 2005. Can't do that due to technical difficulties on my other pc. Can I do this with my current setup?

thx

Kat

Yes you can. For SQL 2000, Reporting Services came as an add on component rather that being part of main install package.

You will need to have Windows 2000 or XP Professional which comes with IIS. This is required for running Reporting Services.

here are some links that will be helpful to you:

Hi,

Do you have the SQL Server 2000 is installed on your computer? As I remember, Reporting Services needs at least a Standart Edition for SQL2K

If you have SQL Server, then you need the IIS also installed on your pc.

If you want to create reports, you need also the VS.Net 2003 installed on your pc.

I can all run them on my laptop which is an XP SP2. Your machine does not need to be a server :)

Eralper

http://www.kodyaz.com

|||That's right. But I believe you need XP Professional and not XP Home edition because you don't get IIS with XP Home.|||

I only have 2000 Professional Edition. Looks like I'll have to wait for my other laptop to be repaired and then I'll try again.

I HOPE, I HOPE, I HOPE it works!

thx

Kat

|||Windows 2000 Professional should work just fine.|||

Hi,

I should get my xp professional laptop back this next week and I will have the Developer edition of SQL Server 2000 soon to be upgraded to 2005. You say I need IIS installed which I understand, but is VS.Net 2003 a free product or does this have to be paid for?

thx,

Kathleen

Reporting Services Help

I am trying to use Report builder in both SQL 2005 and SQL 2000( which does not exist in the version). I am trying to run the reports off of my created vies.

My process is I open VS 2005 Business Itellgence and select Report Model.
Then I selecet my datasource , then my Data source view, then I create my Model.

Reporting Services Eval expired after SP2 installed

Can I upgrade to the full version and if so how?
Thanks a million in advance
On my test server RS eval has been running for over a year but on my new
development server I was stupid and loaded the eval version and just
recently installed SP2 and over the weekend it expired. Is there anything I
can do to get back up and running?well, I was able to run the install for standard version with the upgrade
option and then reapply SP2 and all seems to be up and running.

If you are on the same computer as report server and report manager, you can
View Source on the HTML page with the error message to see a stack trace.
What is the stack trace?
Also, in the report manager log file under the LogFiles directory, you
should see what the error is and the stack trace.

How do I go about determining the Reporting Services version ie.
Enterprise/Standard/Developer that is being run. Also is there a way to
identify if the version is RTM or Service Pack 1.
ThanksControl Panel - Add/Remove Programs; select RS and click on the "Click here
for support information" link.
Or use IE, go to http://servername/reportserver, and you will see the
version number.

Reporting Services Developer - Changes and Compatibility between 2000 and 2005

We installed Reporting Services developer and it seems to be the 2005
version. Can you still publish reports (.rdl) to a 2000 Reporting
Services server. There are ways to get around it, but you can't use any of the 2005
functionality. It would be best if your using 2000 to just publish with
VS2003. Otherwise, it's not really worth it IMHO.

Reporting Services Database not supported by my instance of sql se

Hello,
I downloaded the trial version of Sql Server Reporting Services from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=BA517C01-2E2F-4BC7-84AF-149B7637F807&displaylang=en
But when I try to install the service I get the error message that the
instance of Sql Server that I am running does not support the Reporting
Services Database when I get to the part that asks what account to use. The
default is Service Account, but I also tried Sql Server Account (my instance
of Sql Server is in mixed mode).
I am trying to install the Trial version of Reporting Services for
evaluation on a windows XP computer that contains Sql Server 2000 Standard
Edition (for desktop) Service Pack 4. The Microsoft Management Console Help
About says Service Pack 2. Any suggestions would be appreciated if it is
possible to install the trial Reporting Services on my computer with the
current install of Sql Server, and how this can be accomplished.
Thanks,
RichHi Rich,
I don't believe this will work. Try Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003
Server, with a server-based SQL Server, not a desktop version.
As far as I know, desktop-SQL Server is not supported. But this is just
as far as I know...
Kind Regards,
Bj=F6rn|||Bjorn is correct, REporting Services is not supported on the develpment
edition of SQL. The best way run it on windows XP for evaluation is to
get a hold of some VM software (VM Ware or MS Virtual Machine) and
install Windows Server and MS SQL Server Evaluation Editions on the
Virtual Machine. Reporting Services will work in this setup.
Cheers,
Guytz72|||Thanks for your reply. You are probably correct. I just needed to confirm
this.
Thanks again,
Rich

you downloaded) will run with the developers edition of SQL Server (and
Developers edition of SQL Server will run on XP - I have run on this
configuration). It will not run with Personal Edition or MSDE. Are you sure
you have the developers edition of SQL Server and not Personal Edition?
You say you have Standard Edition for SQL Server (Desktop). I am not aware
of this designation of product. My guess is that this is Personal Edition
which is not supported.
So, to clarify. You definitely can run in XP but you need to have Developers
edition of SQL Server.

computer. But it is almost like Enterprise Sql Server. I have Enterprise
manager, Query Analyzer, books on line, even Analsys services. But the disk
did say personal edition when loading onto winxp. But if I load the same
disk onto a server, it is Standard edition. Where can I get the developer's
edition of sql server? can I upgrade my personal edition?
Thanks,
Rich

comes through that.
